MiDAS Driver Training Course Information

MiDAS courses (MiDAS is short for Minibus Driving Awareness Scheme) are open to all individuals using minibuses for non-commercial purposes. Professionally accredited courses to you get on the road as a minibus driver.

MiDAS promote safety by working with organisations to enhance driver and passenger awareness skills. Statistically, working as a driver is one of the most dangerous jobs, posing just as much of a risk as working on a quarry or as a deep sea fisherman, according to the Health and Safety Executive. Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, it is the obligation of employers to provide their paid and volunteer employees with the necessary resources, guidance and supervision to undertake driving training. As you can see, there is a clear legal obligation for workplaces and organisations to ensure that their drivers are adequately trained.

MiDAS is applicable to any organisation that transports passengers by road, including member organisations, schools and local authorities, with any fleet size. Even if you don’t own your own vehicle or minibus, it is important to ensure that you are fully trained and qualified if you provide driving for organisations on a voluntary or paid basis. MiDAS provides both classroom-based theory training, and on-the-road driving experience with ADI Grade A and Fleet Registered training. MiDAS is a member of the DIA, AIRSO and IAM, and supplies qualified QCF and MiDAS DAT Assessors, to ensure that you are receiving the best possible training. Theory and practical assessments are available.

MiDAS also provides refresher training for existing certificated drivers, as it is mandatory to attend refresher training every four years to retain your certificate. If you are thinking about applying to a MiDAS course with MiDAS Driver Training, please ensure that you check your driver’s licence entitlement to ensure that you are eligible for training.

MiDAS provides two types of courses: a course for standard minibuses and another for accessible minibuses (for wheelchair users and similar). Additionally, our instructors are ADI accredited and can provide additional or out of hours training to suit your requirements.

MiDAS is regulated by the CTA (Community Transport Association) and all of our instructors are registered and qualified Driver Assessor Trainers. Whatever your requirements, we are certain that MiDAS can provide a flexible, affordable and professional option to suit you.
